Who im­port­ed the gun that killed PC Ramirez?

That was the ques­tion asked by Pas­tor Michael Phillips to a con­gre­ga­tion at the fu­ner­al ser­vice of PC Krys­ton Ram­riez at the Mal­oney Sev­enth-Day Ad­ven­tist Church yes­ter­day.

Ramirez was killed on De­cem­ber 16 at Classy Sports Bar in Ari­ma.

Phillips be­lieves that those re­spon­si­ble for Ramirez’s mur­der are not the ones sole­ly re­spon­si­ble for his death and the oth­er 515 for 2018 thus far.

He be­lieves they can­not be the mas­ter­minds.

Philips said, “Lit­tle hit men do not dri­ve lux­u­ry ve­hi­cles, pur­chase in­flu­ence or have friends in Gov­ern­ment.”

He added: “Lit­tle hit men do not live their lives in palaces or make mil­lion dol­lar drug or­ders but are usu­al­ly raised by a poor sin­gle par­ent.”

And while he thanked Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Gary Grif­fith for his work thus far the pas­tor was de­ter­mined to ask the fol­low­ing ques­tions.

•What does the laws of T&T say about what hap­pens to some­one who com­mits mur­der and is con­vict­ed?

•What hap­pens to the vic­tim’s fam­i­ly, who pays the bills for his chil­dren?

•Who are the re­al hit­men?

He be­lieves no one has the an­swers.

Ramirez was re­mem­bered by his fam­i­ly as hard-work­ing, some­one who was ho­n­oured to serve his coun­try and some­one who loved his chil­dren.

His col­leagues knew him as a qui­et, am­bi­tious per­son who con­tin­ued to el­e­vate in his ca­reer. His last pro­mo­tion, be­ing a mem­ber of the Guard and Emer­gency Branch .

One col­league said, “He was a re­al team play­er, be­cause he did every­thing to make the whole team get pun­ished.”

Ramirez’s fam­i­ly was coy in ask­ing for jus­tice but Phillips wasn’t as he said there is need for jus­tice be­cause he be­lieve if there isn’t the dead po­lice of­fi­cer’s fam­i­ly will al­ways feel be­trayed by the State.
